A report by Skynews.com claims that Rio Ferdinand, the Manchester United player had a free weekend recently and chose to spend it with his wife and children in a top-of-the-range ‘Prestige’ caravan, in Prestatyn, Wales.

The mobile home was on a Haven Park site, and it is reported that Haven have said that ‘’Rio likes to stay at our Presthaven Sands site.’’ A spokeswoman for Haven also said ‘’ He had a very lovely time, he was mobbed by young lads on the park but was quite affable about it all signing autographs then tried out the go-kart track.’’

This is a great endorsement for these fantastic mobile home caravans. Maybe next time Rio will choose Cyprus as his location. We would be happy to make the arrangements for him, should he wish to contact us.

We have a great range of re-sale mobile homes in excellent condition and ready to import to Cyprus for your perfect holiday or permanent home. We have too many to list on site, so please contact us with your requirements. Its good enough for a multi-millionaire so why not you?!

If you are using the traditional incandescent 100 watt light bulbs to light your mobile home then please take note that you will no longer be able to buy them in Cyprus.

On 1st September, the Cyprus Environmental Commissioner Charalambos Theopemptou announced that following a European Union directive, Cyprus has now banned the manufacture, import and sale of the traditional 100 watt incandescent and frosted lightbulbs. These should now be replaced with energy saving fluorescent light bulbs.

A ban will follow on 1st September 2010 of the 75 watt traditional light bulb, and 1st September 2011 will see the 60 watt bulb banned from import and sale, leaving the more expensive energy saving light bulbs as the only choice for consumers, however as they use just a quarter of the energy, they should be a long term saving. Once the full ban is in effect Cyprus hopes to see reduced emissions of carbon dioxide.

There is now a long list of EU countries that are banning smoking in public. If you are planning to buy your mobile home from us and move to Cyprus, or even take a holiday in Cyprus, we want to inform you that early last month, the Cyprus Government voted yes to banning smoking in public places. The smoking ban goes into effect on 1st January 2010, although local feelings are that very few penalties will actually be issued during the New Year Holiday period. Penalties for violators will be up to the amount of €2,000, with managers and owners of establishments and venues facing fines of up to €1,000 if they fail to place “highly visible” non-smoking signs where applicable. The Bill entitled ‘Legislation for the Protection of Health (Control of Smoking)’, was passed with 27 votes for, 3 against and one abstention.

The new law includes a long list of buildings and venues where lighting up will be prohibited, these include:-
Cinemas; theatres; hospitals – including rural sanitary centres – open-air infirmaries and old peoples’ homes; pharmacies, clinics, doctors’ and dentists’ surgeries; museums; galleries, concert halls and cultural centres; public libraries; factories; training and educational centres such as universities, colleges, schools; lifts, stairwells and ‘common areas’ of public buildings; covered athletic centres; governmental or semi-governmental service buildings; banks; ports and airports; event areas for adults; shopping centres, kiosks; reception rooms; recreational areas including hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, bars, coffee shops, clubhouses, cafés, internet cafés, pool halls, gaming arcades, betting shops, cabarets, discos, nightclubs and dance centres.

However the good news for smokers is that they will still be allowed to light up in all external, open areas (except for school yards and medical areas), and in the internal courtyards or gardens of buildings. Smoking will also remain legal in internal courtyards and external areas that are covered by a canopy, such as the outside of cafés, courtyards of restaurants and the central cafeteria area of the Parliament.

Employers will also be obliged to provide a “closed smoking area for employees with an appropriate ventilation system, in which exclusive access will be granted to employees who are smokers and who have submitted a written request to be permitted to smoke in that area.” This clause leaves out schools, which will become strictly smoke-free zones.
